Africa's first FIFA World Cup™️ will be a joyous celebration of continental football unity, sure to swell millions of hearts with pride from the Cape to Cairo.

And during the 31st General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) this week on 10 and 11 February 2009 in Lagos, Nigeria, that unity and common sense of purpose was very much in evidence as African football gears up for its finest hour in June and July 2010.

In a short, but poignant one-line acceptance speech moments after being crowned African Player of the Year on 10 February 2009, Arsenal and Togo's Emmanuel Adebayor hit just the right note at a significant time for African football.

Great stuff. I am going to enjoy the world cup if Ghana qualifies.
